measurement data from PXI instruments.This manual contains only information about the Electronics Power validation Add-On.Refer to the InstrumentStudio Manual for information about copyright,patents,trademarks,warranties,product warnings,and export compliance.Launching the Electronics Power Validation Add-On from InstrumentStudioComplete the following steps to open the Electronics Power validation Add-On from InstrumentStudio.1.Launch InstrumentStudio.|Note InstrumentStudio version 2022 Q4 or later is required.2.Click Manual Layout on the InstrumentStudio home screen to open the Edit Layout dialog box.3.Find Power Validation within the Nl Electronics Power validation dialog box.4.Select Create large panel from the drop-down menu for the Power Validation Add-On.National InstrumentsElectronics Power Validation Add-On for Instrumentstudio5.Click OK.After you click OK,Instrumentstudio launches the Electronics Power validation Add-On home screen/large panel.From this home screen,you can select your connected device from the hardware list and configure any channels before starting the acquisition.Large Panel OverviewThe large panel displays connected devices,configured channels,measurement parameters,and acquisitions.Use this panel to configure measurements,view applications,capture data,view data,and log data for voltage,current,and power measurements.The large panel includes the following options.Run:Starts or stops an acquisition.Mode:Sets the acquisition to be either continuous or finite.For finite acquisitions,specify time the Test Time in seconds.Add Channel:Clicking Add Channel configures terminals or pins at which you can measure signals.Channels also encapsulate channel-specific information such as the voltage range that formats the data.Note To duplicate one or more added channels,including their configuration,right click the channel or channels to be duplicated in the large panel,and use Copy and Paste.To select multiple channels,hold the key and then click on any channels you want to copy and paste.Start/Stop Log:Begins logging or recording data.Search:Lists the compatible devices detected by the Electronics Power Validation Add-On.Trigger:Lists the actions that cause Electronics Power validation Add-On to mark or begin an acquisition on a specified channel.You can specify the type of trigger and whether the trigger occurs if the Slope is rising or falling and the Level at which a trigger will occur.4 Electronics Power Validation Add-On for Instrumentstudio Dynamics Graphs:Displays channel-specific waveform data such as the mean,minimum,and maximum waveform values.Instrument view(n):Displays the terminal connections(pinouts)for any connected device.List view(目):Shows the connections as a list for any connected device.Related tasks:Taking a Measurement Logging DataTaking a MeasurementBefore you begin this procedure,launch the Electronics Power Validation Add-On and open your project.Complete the following steps to take a measurement.1.Click the device tab for any connected DAQ or SMU devices.Note For DAQ devices,click Add Channel to configure and include additional channels in your measurement.2.Configure each channel by doing one of the following:From the instrument view,double click a channel row or click the gear icon(a).In the pop-up window,select if the channel will measure voltage or current,specify the range,and for current measurements,specify a shunt resistor value.From the list view,click the channel to be configured(for instance,AI0+).In the pop-up window,select if the channel will measure voltage or current,specify the range,and for current measurements,specify a shunt resistor value.3.Use Mode to specify whether the measurement will be continuous or finite.If it is finite,specify the Test Time in seconds.4.For DAQ devices,select the Trigger to use and the Sampling rate.National InstrumentsElectronics Power Validation Add-On for Instrumentstudio5.For devices that support offset adjustments,specify either Auto Zero or Chopping values.Auto Zero uses sampling to adjust the offset whereas Chopping uses modulation and demodulation.Chopping and Auto Zero cannot be used together.6.Click Run/Stop to start the acquisition.Your acquisition begins.You can view the acquisition in progress by clicking the Dynamics Graphs tab and then selecting the channels to view.|Note Click Save to store your 叩plication to be reloaded again later.Related concepts:Large Panel OverviewLogging DataBefore you begin this procedure,launch the Electronics Power validation Add-On to open your project in the large panel,and configure any voltage,current,and power measurements for any connected channels.Complete the following steps to capture and record data.1.Configure logging by clicking the gear icon(fi).This opens the Logging specification window.2.In the Logging specification window,select an output path,specify if you want files segmented by time or file size,and configure CSV file formatting.3.Click Okay to close the Logging specification window and return to the large panel.4.Click Run/Stop to start acquiring data.5.For finite measurements,specify the acquisition duration by setting the Mode to Finite and entering the Test Time in seconds.6.Choose one of the following:To manually control a recording,click Start Log to begin capturing data.6 Electronics Power Validation Add-On for Instrumentstudio To automatically start a recoding,click Run.7.For continuous measurements,click Run/Stop to end recording data.For finite measurements,the recording ends when the capture duration is completed.Related concepts:Large Panel OverviewSaving a Configured MeasurementTo save a configuration,do the following.Select File Save or File Save all.The configuration file is saved as a.sfp file included in the project(.inststudioproj file).Note When closing Instrumentstudio,the Electronics Power validation Add-On also prompts you to save the configuration.Loading a Configured MeasurementTo reuse a saved configuration,do the following.1.Click Load to add a saved configuration.2.Navigate to the location where the configuration is saved,and double click the instudioproj file.The saved sampling rate,voltage range,trigger,signal connections,and channels are displayed on the large panel.Note When opening Instrumentstudio,the last project saved is automatically re-opened.Pin MapsPin maps define test instruments and hardware,sites and pins connected to a DUT,and how the test instruments and hardware connect to DUT pins for each test site.National InstrumentsElectronics Power Validation Add-On for InstrumentstudioInstrumentstudio preserves mappings created in Test Stand Semiconductor Module(TSM)pin maps.Refer to the other topics in this section of the manual for specific information on how to create and modify pin maps.Creating a New Pin MapTo create a Pin Map,use the Pin Map Editor in Instrumentstudio:1.Select File New Pin Map or click Add in the project files pane toolbarto create a new pin map file(.pinmap).2.Use the Pin Map Editor to configure your pin mappings.The Pin Map tab displays mappable items.Use the left pane to browse through and configure the mappings you want to include in your pin map.To manually edit the pin map file text,click the XML tab.Note If you are working in an unsaved project,Instrumentstudio will prompt you to save the project before creating a new pin map.3.Click OK to close the editor and return to your project.The new pin map is now the active project pin map.e NoteWhen activating a pin map file,the channel names change from the initial channel name to the linked pin name as configured in the pin map file.Editinga Pin MapUse the Pin Map Editor to make changes to a project pin map.1.Double-click a pin map(.pinmap)in the project files pane to open the Pin Map Editor.2.Make the desired changes to your instruments,connections,and pins.Use the Pin map tab to view mappable items and change mappings.To manually change the pin map file,click the XML tab and to edit the pin map.8 Electronics Power Validation Add-On for InstrumentstudioWhen you have completed your edits,click OK to close the Pin Map Editor.Importing and Exporting Configurations as MS Excel FilesFor high-channel systems,such as a structural test,you might want to specify the test system in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet instead of directly in the Electronics Power Validation Add-On.Using an Excel spreadsheet allows you to use the built-in mass edit capabilities of Excel as well as provide a more common format for sharing with others.To import an Excel file or export the current configuration to a Microsoft Excel file,do the following.1.Click Import/Export.2.Do one of the following:To import an existing configuration,navigate to the location where the configuration is saved,and double click the instudioproj file.The saved sampling rate,voltage range,trigger,signal connections,and channels are displayed on the large panel.To export,navigate to location where you want the current configuration saved.Note When opening
