Lu Jialei，a fourteen­year­old girl，is from Hangzhou Foreign Language School.She won the CCTV Chinese Character (汉字) Spelling Contest on October 18，2013.

For the contest，she and her partners studied the Modern Chinese Dictionary for 10 days.There are more than 56，000 entries (字条) including characters，words and phrases in it.She has a secret weapon (武器)．She studied how Chinese characters were structured.
In the final，judges (评委) gave her the word “wanluan” and said it means “nice and pretty”．“At first I was a little nervous，I've never heard of that word！”said Lu.But she made a good guess.“Characters which mean ‘pretty' often have ‘女' in them，while many characters which pronounce ‘luan' have ‘亦' in them.So I wrote down ‘婉娈'，”she said.This secret weapon came from her good reading habits.“When others pay attention to the event of a story，she looks at how authors use words and sentences to express themselves，”said Su Yunsheng，Lu's Chinese teacher.
