1. Somewhere people have ______ forests to grow crops, or to use the wood as building materials, causing a lot of floods.  A. cut off         B. cut out   C. cut in          D. cut down 参考答案: D 2. He hurried to the post office, _______ it closed. A. only found        B. and find     C. only finding      D. only to find C 3. If Mike    come this evening, I would ask him to help me deal with the problem. A. should B. could C. would D. might 参考答案: A 【详解】考查情态动词的用法。 故选A。 1. If you should feel worse, please call our nurses at the Triage immediately. 2. If it should rain tomorrow, I will stay at home. 3. I don’t think it will happen, but if it should happen what shall we do? “Hi, Mum! I’m on the bus; I should be home in about ten minutes.” --- When can I come for the photos ? I need them tomorrow afternoon. ---They should be ready by 12:00. 1. I think he should arrive by nine o’clock. 2. They should be there by now, I think. 3. The men from the government should be here before long. The paint should have dried off by this time tomorrow. They should have arrived in Beijing by this time. 4. ----Waiter, please change this Jasmine tea for Wulong tea.   ----__________’ A. Back in 1969, it was the Apollo 11 crew who flew to the moon in a spaceship. When U.S. astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin stepped foot on the moon, they were the first. Meanwhile, their fellow astronaut Michael Coilins circled the moon in their spaceship, named Columbia. When Armstrong and Aldrin were done with their walk, they returned to the command module, and back to Earth. That part of the spaceship is on view at the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. But, if you cannot get to Washington, soon you will be able to see Columbia on your computer or your smartphone. Digital scientists are scanning the inside of the spaceship. They are creating an online model, in three dimensions, or“3 D”. By looking at these photographs, you will be able to see outer space, the way the astronauts did. It will be like sitting in their seats. Want your very own Columbia spaceship? You will be able to print a 3D copy of Columbia. Experts say anyone can make a life-sized model. But they expect most people to make smaller models of the 320×400 cm(11’X 13’)command module. Scientists are using special 3D technology to scan the inside. They use cameras on long arms to take the photographs. The thousands of photographs taken will be combined with 50 laser scans. What would it be like to sit inside Columbia and take a look around? All the images will be loaded into software that allows you to look around the module on a computer screen. The user will be able to see the Columbia both inside and out. The Smithsonian says that the 3D technology gives the user ways to see things they cannot see at the museum. And it will give information that even the museum curators(馆长)have not seen before. “With the Command Module, no one has been inside since it came into the collection,” says Adam Metallo. Smithsonian 3D imaging specialist. “Now the information we capture can give anyone in the world a view of what it looks like inside this incredible piece of history.” 12. An energy watchdog is alarmed about the threat to the environment from the increasing electricity needs of gadgets(小装置)like MP3 players, mobile phones and flat screen TVs. In a report today, the Paris-based International Energy Agency says new electronic gadgets will be three times their energy consumption by 2030 to 1,700 terawatt hours(千瓦时), which is equal to today's home electricity consumption of the United States and Japan combined. The world would have to build around 200 new nuclear power plants just to power all the TVs, iPods, PCs and other home electronics expected to be plugged in by 2030,when the global electric bill to power them will rise to $200 billion a year, the agency said. “Consumer electronics is the fastest growing area and the area with the least amount of policies in place to control energy efficiency, ” said Paul Waide, a senior policy analyst at the agency. Electronic gadgets already account for about 15 percent of household electric consumption, a share that is rising rapidly as the number of these gadgets multiplies. Last year, the world spent  $80 billion on electricity to power all these household electronics, the energy agency said. “ Most of the increase in consumer electronics will be in developing countries, where economic growth is the fastest and ownership rates of gadgets are the lowest , ” Waide said. “This will jeopardize efforts to increase energy security and reduce the amount of greenhouse gases blamed for global warming.” the agency said. Existing technologies could cut down gadgets’ energy consumption by more than 30 percent at no cost or by more than 50 percent at a small cost, the agency estimates, meaning total greenhouse gas emissions(排放) from households’ electronic gadgets could be held stable(稳定的) at around 500 million tons of CO2 per year. 55. How many terawatt hours did the energy consumption of new electronic gadgets reach? A. Nearly l, 700.        B. Nearly 600. C. About 200.        D. About 60.       56. What is the condition in the area of consumer electronics? A. There are a lot of rules to control the market. B. There are few policies to control energy efficiency. C. There are few choices for the customers. D. There are lots of regulations to protect consumers' rights. 57.
