Part 1 Preview
Thinking before class
Use as many adjectives as you can to describe your best friend and the person who you hate most.
Part 2 Study in class
Step1 Brainstorming-guessing
Let students guess who he is.
1. He was a soldier and died at an early age after the founding of PRC.
2. He is ----helpful -----warmhearted------ unselfish/selfless.
3. Chairman Mao encouraged us to learn from him on March 5th.
4. In March every year, we learn from him to offer help to others.
Step 2 Adjectives to describe personality
1. Have you paid attention the adjectives?
All these adjectives above are used to describe personalities.
2. Let’s have a try
Use some adjectives to describe people’s personalities
(1) What kind of person is “Dae Jang Geum”?
(smart strong-willed helpful kind friendly hardworking/diligent creative warm-hearted)
（2）Try to describe other people.
3. Read the dialogue (on the text book)
v A: At first, when I saw my best friend start to spend time with new friends, I was jealous. But now I am open- minded because I have new friends to spend time too.
v B: Yes! I noticed that sometimes you were moody at the beginning of last term. However, I am pleased to see that you are much more cheerful these days.
(The adjectives in red are negative while the adjectives in blue are positive.)

(1) Read the story.
Once upon a time, there was an old king who had a daughter and a son. When he was dying, he still has the problem that who should be chosen to be inheritor.
His daughter was beautiful ,smart, open-minded, self-confident, well-mannered, good –tempered, polite, modest, strong-minded and generous , which are the right personalities for a wise King.
However, his son was on the very opposite. According to the tradition, his son, the prince should be the future King.
