1. Teaching primary school students foreign languages has more advantages than disadvantages. Do you agree or disagree?

In this day and age, due to the global homogenization, foreign language is of more and more significance in our daily life. And multitudes of primary schools commence to inculcate foreign languages. This phenomenon has sparked prevalent debate. Personally, I believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

Undeniably, mastering several foreign languages is a competitive edge in contemporary society. In contrast, being impeded by their language skills, people who can only speak their native language are considered to be left behind. Provided that a person was taught with foreign language courses in his primary school stage, he would be more easily to realize the importance of foreign language and learn it more diligently. Furthermore, the study in the primary school lays the foundation for their further study, meanwhile offering a language-friendly environment in their childhood. So in essence, learning foreign language is indispensable in this fiercely competitive society.

Secondly, based on scientific evidence, learning language in elder age never manages to reach a comparable level with learning in primary school stage. As human beings grow older, it is more difficult and arduous for them to digest the knowledge and memorize the vocabulary. By that I mean, enabling persons to enhance the language literacy as well as grasp the knowledge point, elementary school stage is the prime time for mastering foreign language.

Further speaking, imparting language in elementary school is advantageous for whole society and the development of a nation. Enhancing the overall quality of youngsters, it is favorable for a country to communicate and collaborate with other nations in future. Moreover, an increasing number of young people have the capability of language literacy to study abroad, then bringing the advanced science and technology back to their motherland. From this point of view, although governments have to shift more financial resources to education, it is quite worthwhile.

Having considered all the arguments above, I am convinced that imparting foreign language in primary school does more favor than harm. No matter from the angle of individuals and nations, it is beneficial. So authorizes would be well-advised to encourage the language education in elementary school.

Undeniably, typically youngsters tend to count on information highway to receive messages. Timeliness and richness are the most evident advantages of internet and other media styles are pale in comparison with internet. Internet has the capability to disseminate the news to the public in several minutes after the event happens. Moreover, the volume for internet is way bigger than others. That is to say, not being limited by space like newspapers, the internet can offer a wealthy of news. In other words, it is infinite.

Secondly, internet is more personalized. Unlike TV and newspaper which compel individuals to receive unified message, internet capacitates persons to read anything in accordance with their needs and preferences. For instance, by way of internet, a fanatic sports fan can log on sport-specific websites to read whatever he wants, the up-to-date and wealthy sport news, sport comments. In contrast, he can only read the article of limited length regarding sports in newspaper and watch restricted sport program on TV.

Further speaking, compared with other styles, internet is low-cost and environmental-friendly. For one thing, network doesn’t call for a company to hire the TV presenter to record program like TV. For another, as a virtual media, internet doesn’t require tangible things to be the media tool. That is to say, unlike newspaper which depletes trees to make paper, information highway doesn’t consume natural resources at all.

Having considered all the arguments above, I am surely convinced that being speedy, abundant, personalized and low-carbon, the internet is better than others. Although it has some disadvantages like excessive violent and pornographic contents, I am sure it will be of more and more importance in our daily life.
