[教材分析]:
（一）课文内容：本课的标题是Two geniuses，围绕天才爱因斯坦和他的司机汉斯的一段轶事，组织学生开展语言知识点学习的一系列活动。学生已于前一课时对课文内容有了较全面的理解，也跟读了新单词，为本课时的学习奠定了基础。
（二）课前准备：要求学生了解爱因斯坦的更多事迹和喜欢的天才的事迹，为语言知识点的导入和运用做好背景知识准备；跟读了新单词。
[教学目标]:
1. 语言知识目标：学生在具体情境中学习本课的语言知识点并懂得如何运用它们；.
2. 语言功能目标：提高学生在相关情景中运用语言知识点的能力。
3. 情感教育目标: 思考天才是如何炼成的，形成正确的价值观--“天才始于勤奋和个人终生的刻苦奋斗”。

教学重点：掌握本课的重点单词、短语和句型：
单词（2）：genius, perfectly；
短语（8）：regard … as, an attempt to do, a gift / talent for sth.,
a sense of humour, give a lecture, learn… by heart ,
let sb. down, offer to do sth.；
句型（1）： It’s a pleasure (for sb.) to do sth.
教学难点：创设情境，设计活动，让学生在活动中通过所学语言知识点的运用来熟悉掌握知识点。

一、 Lead in ：Brain-storming:
Teacher：Yesterday, we learn a story about a great genius. Who is he?
Students: Albert Einstein.
T: Now, I will show you some pictures of another three geniuses (Lang Lang, Bill Gates and Michael Jordan) and then you tell me anything you about them. Clear?
Ss: Yes.
Teacher: ( show a picture of Lang Lang) Who is he? What do you know about him?
Students: Lang Lang, a pianist, good at playing piano, a piano prodigy, stunning, one of the youngest and greatest pianist of our time.
….

通过展示学生熟悉的当代天才（朗朗、比尔盖茨和迈克尔乔丹），让学生通过头脑风暴来谈论对他们的了解，顺利引入本课的话题，为课堂奠定良好气氛和基础。
二、Presenting the language points (by creating some situations with pictures and ask questions about the text.)
Language points: genius, regard … as, an attempt to do, a gift / talent for sth., a sense of humour, give a lecture, perfectly, let sb. down, learn… by heart, offer to do, It’s a pleasure to do.
E.g.: give a lecture
T: (Show a picture of Einstein giving a lecture in the hall.) Look at the picture, what was Einstein doing?
Ss: He was giving a lecture on the platform.
T: Well done. Here, lecture means 讲座，so give a lecture means 做一次讲座/演讲。Well, look at this picture (showing the picture of President Obama giving a lecture), do you know him?
Ss: Obama.
T: Yes. 上个月，奥巴马总统在上海做了一次演讲。How to say that in English?
Ss: Last month, President Obama gave a lecture in Shanghai.
T: Excellent!

通过对课文主要内容的提问和展示图片，创设情境，引出各个重点单词、短语和句型的意义和用法，让学生初步体验“在学中用，用中学”。
三、Activities for utilization of the language points:
Activity 1. Who is the quickest?
(Fill in the blanks with proper words)
This is a competition between groups: show some sentences with missing words and asks students to say them out quickly.
Activity 2. Who is the Memory King? (Say out the phrases quickly)
This is a competition between groups: show the Chinese meanings of the phrases, and give them 45 seconds to memorize them，then have a competition to see which group does the best.
Activity 3. Exercises on the paper (Using the phrases)
1. Choosing the best phrases to complete the sentences;
2. Paraphrasing;
3. Translation using the phrase.
Activity 4. Group work: Describe your favourite genius using word and expressions just learned.
Show Ss six geniuses (such as Shakespeare, Charlie Chaplin) and then an introduction of Charlie Chaplin using words and expressions just learnt.
(E.g.: Charlie Chaplin is my favourite actor. He is a genius. He has a gift for comedy (喜剧) and many people regard him as the funniest actor. In his films, he acted so perfectly that he never let his audience down. Trust me！The more you watch his films, the more you’ll like him.)
After that, ask groups of students to choose their favourite geniuses and practice after the example. Finally, invite some Ss to show their answers.
Activity 5. Discussion: what makes a genius?
How to make yourself a genius?
“Genius is 99 percent perspiration and 1 percent 
inspiration. -- Thomas Edision”
“Genius only means hardworking all one’s life.
-- Menjelev”
“Success = hard work + good method + stop talking & get down to work -- Einstein”
Through quoting some famous sayings from some geniuses about geniuses, the teacher leads students to realize geniuses are not born but made.

1. 通过给首字母根据句意补充完整单词，检验学生对知识点的掌握情况，锻炼学生的即时记忆即时应用的能力
2. 通过小组竞赛，激发学生的学习积极性，活跃课堂氛围；同时，通过限时短时记忆和检验，巩固所学知识点。
3. 通过运用各个语言点去完成句子、解释句子和翻译句子，让学生切身体会它们的用法。

4. 将课堂知识延伸到学生的现实生活，结合个人喜好，用课堂所学的知识点，模仿例子介绍自己最喜欢的天才。

5. 通过思考和讨论天才如何炼成的问题和如何把自己炼成天才，让学生意识到天才不是天生的，而是通过自身不懈的努力而炼成的。
五、Homework: Finish the paper.
