Teaching aims:
1、Learn the new words：time， half， past .
2、Learn the main sentences: What time is it ? It’s five o’clock / half past six .
3、Encourage the pupils to display more interest in learning English .
4、Make the pupils aware of the importance of valuing time .

1、The expression of time .
2、The use of the sentence “ What time is it ?”
Teaching aids : cassette , CAI , cards .
Teaching process :
Step one : Warming up .
1、Greet the pupils in English .
2、Sing the song “ One , two , three .”
3、Show the pictures .
T: What’s this in English ? S: It’s a clock .
T: What can you know from the clock ? S: Time .
T: Today we are going to learn unit 5 Time .
Step two : Presentation .
1、（CAI）Show the picture and learn the phrase : one o’clock .
2、（CAI）Show the picture and learn the phrase : two o’clock .
3、Continue in this way to learn the other phrases .
4、Do the exercises . Show the pictures and ask “ what time is it ?” Then show the sentence . When the pupils answer the question , show the answer .
5、Show the pictures one by one and learn the half past the hour .
6、Show the pictures and ask “ what time is it ？”After the pupils answer the question ，show the sentence and ask them to read .
7、Play the cassette . The pupils listen and write the numbers in the squares in the order in which they hear them .
8、Listen again and check the answers .
9、Check the answer together and find out what time it is .
Step three : Practice .
1、Practise more with your partners .
2、Ask some pairs of pupils to make dialogues .
3、Guess the time .
Step four : Consolidation .
1、Time is gold , money can’t buy time . Time is life . We must value the time .
