Lesson 5 Danny’s Very Special Guest
教学目标:1. 让学生掌握英语书信/日记的格式
2. 写日记通常要用动词的过去式，牢记一些常用动词的过去式及过去分词
3. 让学生了解一些写作技巧，提高写作水平
教学重点:1. Ask your students to write a diary about their hobbies.
2. Teach students how to read and write the date.
3. New words and phrases of the section.
教学难点1. Give a talk about how to succeed.
2. Learn some indefinite pronouns, for example everybody, somebody, nobody….
3. Describe an interesting day of you at school.
教学情景导入:
Do you know the singer named Liu Huan? I like listening his songs. He is my joss. Yesterday there was a man like him in my house. The man is my father’s friend. He is good at singing. I think he is a very special guest for me. Do you have a very special guest? Danny has a very special guest, too.
教学过程设计:
Step 1. Learning new words. There are some new words in this text. Let’s learn them first .
guest n. 客人
such adj. 同类的；如此的
able adj. 有能力的
great adj. 伟大的
practice v. 练习；实习
Step 2. Discuss the questions in the “Think About It!”.
Who is your favorite star? Why do you like him or her?
Would you like to be famous? Why or why not?
Step 3. Listening tasks: Listen to the tape twice and then tell the sentences are true or false.
1. We had such an interesting day at school.
2. We had a very special guest.
3. Jeff is a great football player.
Step 4. Read the text aloud with the following questions and then answer them.
1. Who is Danny’s special guest? What does he do?
Jeff Johnson. He is a great basketball player.
2. Where did Danny talk to Jeff Johnson?
In the gym.
3. What did he do after Jeff Johnson lost the game?
He went on practicing.
Step 5. Language notes: Let’s explain the text and master the language notes.
1. We had such an interesting day at school today! 今天我们在学校度过了如此有趣的一天。such an interesting day 这样有趣的一天
such adj.无比较级或最高级，意为“这样的；那样的；这种”。
The camel has such a long neck.骆驼长着那样长的脖子。
We aren’t interested in such things.我们对这样的事情没有兴趣。
【注意】such和 so 作定语时，意思都是“这样的”，但它们的结构有所不同。通常的结构为： such+冠词+形容词+名词。而使用so时的结构为：so+形容词+冠词+名词。如
It was so hot a day that nobody wanted to do anything.这么热的天，没人想做任何事情。
It was such a hot day that nobody wanted to do anything.天这么热，没人想做任何事情。
2. If I don’t , I won’t be able to sleep tonight.我如果不的话，今夜就不能入睡！
if 连词，“如果”，用来引导一个条件状语从句。
条件状语从句的时态用一般现在时，主句常常用一般将来时，如：
If it doesn’t rain tomorrow, we’ll go to climb the mountain.
如果明天不下雨，我们就去爬山。
If he is late again, the teacher will be angry. 如果他再迟到，老师就会生气。
3. I told him that I wanted to be in the Olympics some day. 我告诉他有一天我想参加奥林匹克运动会。
some day 将来某日某时
I hope I would fly to the moon by spaceship some day.
我希望将来有一天我乘坐宇宙飞船飞往月球。
【辨析】：one day与some day
one day和some day相同之处在于都可以表示将来的“某一天”。如：
I will take you there one day (some day). 我总有一天带你到那儿。
但是one day可以表示过去的“某一天”，而some day不行。如：
One day last week I met him. 上星期有一天我碰见了他。
4. Did he stop trying? 它停止努力了吗？
stop doing sth. 停止干某事 stop to do sth. 停下来干某事
They stopped playing computer games.他们停止了玩电脑游戏。
They stopped to have a rest.他们停下来休息了一会。
5. It’s time for bed! 是睡觉的时间了。
It’s time for sth. “到了……时间”。注意 for后跟名词或动名词作宾语。如：
It’s time for class.到了上课的时间了。我们可以表示为： It’s time to have class. =It’s time for (having) class.
It’s time for sb. to do sth.到了某人作某事的时间了。如：
It’s time for you to go to school.到了你上学的时间了。
【拓展】：
It’s time to do sth.到了做某事的时间了。如：
It’s time to go to bed.到了睡觉的时间了。
注意：for后的人称代词要用宾格形式。
