《Unit 10 By the time I got outside, the bus had already left》 导读:说好小对话并不轻易,但它也是一段快乐旳经历,让我们一起来学习How to Make a Small Talk吧! Small talk is not something easy, but if you get ready for the talk, it can be a very pleasant experience. Here are 9 steps you can try to follow: STEP 1: Talk with everyone you meet for the first time: Waiters, people you're standing in line with, neighbors and kids. STEP 2: Read everything: Cookbooks, newspapers, magazines, maps and signs. Everything gives you information that you can talk about with others. STEP 3: Force (强迫) yourself to get into small talk situations: Doctors' waiting rooms, parties and bus stops. STEP 4: Look for topics about everything: Television, music, sports, fashion and art. If you can't stand hip-hop, that, too, is a good topic for a talk. STEP 5: Write down things interests you: Funny stories you hear, beautiful things you see, quotes (名人名言), observations(评语), shopping lists and calls you made. STEP 6: Talk to yourself in the mirror: Make a list of any topics and see what you have to say on the subjects. Baseball, Russia, butter, hip-hop, shoes .... The more different, the better. STEP 7: Try something new every day: Go home a new way. Try new food. Go online. Paint a watercolor. Bake a pie. All these give you active ideas and, more important, an active lifestyle. STEP 8: Be a better listener: Did your co-worker just say she took her vacation in Europe? Did your neighbor just have twins? These are opportunities (机会) for making small talk. STEP 9: Believe in yourself: The more you know, the more you can talk about.   Fill in the blanks with “T” for true, “F” for false. ( ) 1. Talk only with people that you know very well. ( ) 2. Everything you read can be the information for a talk. ( ) 3. Practice speaking to yourself about different topics. ( ) 4. Talking to others is more important than listening. ( ) 5. People always laughed at me. No one showed kindness to me. My only friend was a dog named Tige. I gave my dog enough to eat and drink, but sometimes I was not polite to it. I didn't know that an unkind word sometimes could cut one's heart like a knife. One day as I walked down the street, a young lady was walking in front of me. Suddenly one of her bags dropped from her arms. As she stopped to pick it up, she dropped other bags. I came to help her. "Thank you, dear! You are a nice little boy!" she said kindly, smiling. A special feeling came to me. These were the first kind words I had ever heard. I watched her until she went far away, and then I whistled (吹口哨)to my dog and went directly to the river nearby. I saw nothing but a dirty boy. I washed my face carefully. Again I looked. I saw a clean nice boy. I was amazed.
