读电影台词学语法：动名词

一、主语表示的是一个动作，即“动词”做句子主语；
I’m only brave when I have to be. Being brave doesn't mean you go looking for trouble.
我只是在必要的时候才会勇敢，勇敢并不代表你要到处闯祸。

【注解】当我们用形容词或动词做主语、来表达一个动作行为、或状态的描述，一般有三种方式：（1）动词改为动名词；形容词改为Being+形容词；（2）用该动词或形容词的名词形式，如Being brave=Bravery；（3）更为复杂的情况下，也可以用名词从句,例如上句,可用“That you are brave doesn’t mean you go looking for trouble.”(这种情况较少，除非我们想同时说明“谁"做此事。）

二、宾语表示的是一个动作,即“动词"做句子宾语；分三种情况
1、直接在动词后做宾语
I love waking up in the morning and not knowing what's going to happen， or who I'm going to meet, where I’m going to wind up.
我喜欢早上起来时一切都是未知的,不知会遇见什么人，会有什么样的结局。

Love means never having to say you’re sorry。
爱就是永远不必说对不起。

【注解】不是所有动词都可以接动名词做宾语。因此需要熟记两类动词：第一类只接动名词(表一）；第二类可接动名词和不定式，但意义不同（表二）。

2、直接在介词后做宾语
I never give anything without expecting something in return。 I always get paid。

【注解】注意几个接动名词时，有特殊意义的介词:on表示“一……就”；by表示“通过……的方式”；in表示“在……方面"；to大半出现在一些固定词组中（表四）。

13 期盼着 look forward to doing
14 回复 reply to doing
15 致力于/投入 devote… to doing
16 承认 admit to doing
17 关键 key to doing

3、在某些形容词后做宾语
Land is the only thing in the world worth working for, worth fighting for， worth dying for. Because it is the only thing that lasts.
土地是世界上唯一值得你去为之工作, 为之战斗， 为之牺牲的东西，因为它是唯一永恒的东西。

【注解】比较常见的此类形容词包括busy,comfortable。

三、出现在一些特定句型搭配中
I think it’s hard winning a war with words.
我认为纸上谈兵没什么作用。

【注解】熟记以下结构（表五）：
1 值得被 be worth doing
2 忍不住 can't help doing
3 放弃 give up doing
4 坚持 insist on doing
5 推迟 put off doing
6 需要被 need/require/want/demand doing
7 ……如何？ what about doing
8 ……没用 it is no use doing
9 ……没意义 there is no point doing
10 花费……在…… …spend …in doing
11 ……有困难 have difficulty/trouble doing
12 忙于/从事…… …be engaged in doing
13 忙于/从事…… ..。be busy （in) doing

四、动名词的复杂结构：否定式、和主语的形式
In spite of you and me and the whole silly world going to pieces around us, I love you.
哪怕是世界末日我都会爱着你.

【注解】否定式将not放在最前面,比如not having been heard before；动名词的主语有两种方式，一种是用宾格，如代词-me visiting；名词—a guest visiting;一种是用属格，如my visiting；以及a guest’s visiting。
