Have you ever wondered what PE classes are like in other countries? In China, PE tests are required to graduate from both middle school and high school. To get good grades on the PE tests, Chinese students will need to practice running as well as doing sit-ups and pull-ups. However, this is not the way that PE classes work in US high schools.
In my high school, we are required to take two terms of PE to graduate. We play real sports during PE classes, such as basketball and volleyball. There are also some other typical American sports that we often play, such as kickball and dodgeball(躲避球).
I didn't know the rules of kickball and dodgeball when I first came to the US. The teacher allowed me to sit on the sidelines and watch how other students played it in order to let me find out the rules.
We also learn some useful life skills in PE. Last year, I learned how to do CPR(心肺复苏), which is a life-saving skill. We were also taught how to provide first aid to someone who is choking(窒息).These skills are a large part of the final grade for the PE class in my high school. Self-defense(自卫)is taught in PE class as well. This includes some tae kwon do(跆拳道)and karate(空手道) skills, as well as Chinese kung fu. It is practical. 15、Carrots are easy to grow and easy to harvest. They taste good. And they contain a lot of carotene( 胡萝卜素).
When people think of carrots, they usually say it's a vegetable that is long, thin and orange. But carrots come in many different sizes and shapes. And not all carrots are orange. For example, Paris Market carrots are about five centimetres around. Belgian White carrots are, as their names suggest, white.
For the best results, carrots should be grown in sandy soil that does not hold water for a long time. The soil also should have no rocks. To prepare your garden for carrots, dig up the soil, loosen it and turn it over. Then, mix in some plant material. Weather, soil conditions and age will affect the way carrots taste. 16、My best friend and I made our first trip to Ireland less than a year ago. I wasn’t very excited about it at the very beginning. But my uncle wanted me to visit Ireland and offered to pay for my trip. Then I did. All of the words “magical, charming and memorable” don’t even describe what Ireland is. Our favourites were Kilkenny, Cobh and Killarney. We did a self-driver tour.

17、The world lost one of the most respected leaders. Nelson Mandela, the former (前任的) South African president, passed away on Dec. 5, 2013. The whole world felt sorry about the death of Mandela, a great man of history.
