Clean water is not only important for people to produce food, but necessary for our life. However, many people in Asia and Africa don’t have enough clean water to use. The World Health Organization reports that almost 4, 000 children die each day of dirty water or lack (缺乏) of water.
Farmers use 70%~85% of the world fresh water to produce food. People usually don’t pay much attention to how much water industry(工业) uses, but you may be surprised to know that industry uses 59% of the water in developed countries.
Home use takes up(占据) only 8% in the world. But as cities grow, more water will be used. The local government has to try to make people use less water.
In 60% of European cities, people are saving water by using less. They even keep waste water for other use.
In Australia, the government has encouraged people to collect rainwater and recycle water from showers for a second use.
The US Environmental Protection Agency has made a water saving program to encourage families and businesses to check their water use and save more water. Scientists and the UN are looking for good water management as the key to solving the problem. We can all work together to protect our fresh water in our daily life.

The most beautiful people around us
The driver Wu Bin
Wu was a driver who worked for Hangzhou Long-distance Transport Group. By the noon of May 29th, 2012, he was driving back to Hangzhou from Wuxi when suddenly a flying metal debris(碎片) broke the windscreen and hit him into his body, causing liver rupture and several rib fractures(肝脏破裂和肋骨骨折). Under too much pain, Wu tried to stop the bus at the safety, turned on the lights for danger and told the passengers to be careful while getting off. After doing all these, he fainted dead away(昏死). On the morning of June 1, Wu died of losing too much blood, at the age of 48.
“I have been driving a car for more than 10 years and I know how difficult it is to stop a vehicle safely in great pain, ” said passenger Liu Shibing, who went to pay his respect at Wu’s home. “We admire him and are very grateful. If he had done anything differently, turned the wheel too far in one direction, or not managed to stop the bus, we would not be here. ” said Liu.
The teacher Zhang Lili

Zhang Lili is a teacher at the No. 19 Middle School in Jiamusi, Heilongjiang Province. She got seriously injured after saving two students from being hit by an oncoming bus on May 8, 2012.
Zhang and her students were crossing the road just outside the school gate when suddenly a school bus got out of control and ran towards the students. Zhang managed to push both students out, but she herself did get run over.
Zhang is receiving treatment at the First Hospital affiliated with Harbin Medical University. “We will do everything in our power to save her life. ” said her doctor.

On the afternoon of July 2, 2011, a young girl of two years old was seen to be hanging outside the window of the tenth floor in a district in Hangzhou! Many people tried to get her, but all failed at last. The girl fell down in everyone’s scream.
