As can be seen from the table, the ownership of the eight above mentioned consumer durables in the UK during the designated period of time roughly revealed three different trends. Central heating, television, vacuum cleaner, refrigerator, telephone and dishwasher showed a trend of increase with different characteristics; Washing machine showed a trend of general rise with one fluctuation; Video had nothing to compare with.

Firstly, central heating and telephone were on a constant rise. In 1972, the figures for central heating and telephone were 37% and 42% respectively. In the following years, the former increased at an average rate of 4% every year and reached 64% in 1983. The biggest rise occurred during 1972-1974 and the rate was 6%. The latter increased at an average yearly rate of about 5% and rose to 77% in 1983. The biggest growth rate was 8% ,occurring twice in the process, one during 1972-1974, the other during 1979-1981.

Second, in the rising processes of television, vacuum cleaner and dishwasher, there appeared static situations. Television increased from 93% in 1972 to 98% in 1983, but it remained at 96% during 1976-1978. Then for four continuous years from 1979 to 1982, there appeared another static period which stabilized at 97%. Vacuum cleaner grew from the original 87% to 95% in the end, but during 1976-1978, it remained unchanged at 92%. A similar pattern occurred to washing machine and dishwasher.
第三，洗衣机在从1972年的66％增长至1983年的80％的过程中出现了1978－1979年间1％的下降，从75％下降到了 74％，形成了图表里唯一的一次波动。
Third, washing machine climbed gradually from 66% in 1972 to 80% in 1983, but during 1978-1979, there was a drop by 1% from 75% to 74%, thus forming the only fluctuation across the board.
第四，放映机是从图表所标识的最后一年，即：1983年开始出现的，是18％，所以，没有任何变化数据可参考，也就无从对比。
Fourth, video merely appeared in the last year as designated in the table, namely 1983, and it was 18%. There were no other figures to refer to, thus there was no way to make any comparison.
