What is a Tornado?
A tornado is a rotating column of air from a thunderstorm to the ground. The most violent have winds of more that 400 kilometers per hour. Almost all of them occur in the US, in the area from Texas in the southeast to South Dakota in the north.

Tornadoes can pick up cars, trains and even houses and put them down in the next street━or even in the next town. They can tale the fur off the back of a cat and the feathers off a chicken. They can destroy houses, but leave the furniture inside exactly where it was.

On average, there are 800 tornadoes in the US each year, causing about 80 deaths and 1,500 injuries. The worst tornado of all time occurred in 1925, affecting three US states: Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. By the time it ended, more than 700 people had been killed and 2,700 had been injured.

The author of Childsplay, Lucy Jackson, believes that they do. Most schoolchildren do some sport at school, and many adults take regular exercise in their free time. Toddlers, though, spend most of the time in front of the television or sitting in a pushchair and/ or high chair. If the world were a safer place, every child would run around freely, but that is simply not possible. As a result, they become inactive, overweight and unfit.

Ms Jackson is worried that if small children take no regular exercise, bad habits will continue into adulthood. She suggests that parents should begin exercises with very small babies, moving their legs and arms gently in time to music. As children grow, they should follow an exercise programme using soft balls, household furniture and play equipment.

Many experts in child development are not convinced. They feel that children will learn to run and jump as they play naturally; they do not need structured exercise. They would not be overweight if they ate healthier food. An increasing number of parents, though, are taking their youngsters to exercise classes. The tots jump around with their mothers to music. They seem to enjoy themselves, but it is not at all clear if the classes have any effect on their future development.

So try to go to bed a little earlier. Secondly, you should start to take some exercise. Go for a short run every day or go swimming. Anything that gives your body some exercise. Right? Then there’s the eating. It’s not a good idea to eat just before sleeping and you certainly ought not to drink coffee before going to bed. Coffee contains caffeine…and caffeine will keep you awake.
Patient: OK.
Doctor: And you shouldn’t worry so much. All this can be solved quite easily. If you do take my advice, you’ll sleep better. if you’re sleeping well, you won’t be tired in the day…and then your school work will improve.

People are, even in this day and age. Frightened of going to the dentist, and it is generally because they’ve had a bad experience in the past. If a patient turned up who was very frightened, you would have to go through the various stages. First of all I would try doing treatment with just a local anaesthetic, but because people are frightened of needles, I would ask them to take a tranquillizer by mouth, which in most cases makes them feel a little better. but you do also get patients who are beyond that, and for them they would have to have a tranquillizer admin,…administered in their vein. And you unfortunately also get the final category of patient who would need to be…actually be put out completely, by means of a general anaesthetic.

There’s a theater which Nils uses for slide shows, a jazz club, a radio station and a large ice bar. As you can imagine, hot drinks are popular with the guests! The rooms have no doors, there’s no furniture, no heating and everyone sleeps on… yes, that’s right…ice beds. But the 800 people who have stayed at the hotel this winter seem to like it. If you want to stay in one of the ten ice rooms, it will cost you about ₤30m a night. You won’t be very comfortable, but you will receive a survival certificate from the manager!
When the winter’s over, Nils holds his annual contest to predict the day that the igloo will fall. The person that guessed the day correctly last year received a large painting from an ARTic Hall exhibition. Bergqvist’s ice hotels are becoming world-famous and he loves his work. He’s already excited about his next project- an ice hotel that will have more complicated architectural features and, he says, will be bigger and better.

We have two tennis courts at Rancho Encantado that are of a very good surface called plexipave. And the individual that we have taking care of them we refer to as the recreation director. We have a swimming pool, which has a sun deck around it, where the guests can sit back and just enjoy the beautiful sunshine of New Mexico. Horseback riding is a very important feature of Rancho Encantado and it’s certainly one of the reasons that people come from around the country to, to stay at the ranch. The person in charge of our stable operation we refer to as the head wrangler. ‘wrangler’ of course, is a term that is common on the south-west and it just means the person who takes care of the horses.

Larry uttered a roar of fright that made Lugaretzia drop a plate and brought Roger out from beneath the table, barking wildly. With a flick of his hand he sent the unfortunate scorpion flying down the table, and she landed midway between Margo and Leslie, scattering babies like confetti as she thumped on the cloth. Thoroughly enraged at this treatment, the creature sped towards Leslie, her sting quivering with emotion. Leslie leapt to his feet, overturning his chair and flicked out desperately with his napkin, sending the scorpion rolling across the cloth towards Margo, who promptly let out a scream that any railway engine would have been proud to produce. Mother, completely bewildered by this sudden and rapid change from peace to chaos, put on her glasses and peered down the table to see what was causing the pandemonium, and at that moment Margo, in a vain attempt to stop the scorpion's advance, hurled a glass of water at it. The shower missed the animal completely, but successfully drenched Mother, who lost her breath and sat gasping at the end of the table, unable even to protest. The scorpion had now gone to ground under Leslie's plate, while her babies swarmed wildly all over the table.
