Visitors from the foreign town usually stay in the private homes of the town they are visiting. 来自国外的游客通常待在他们参观访问的这个城镇的私人家庭里。 private adj. 私人的, 私有的。 A private car gives a much greater degree of comfort. 私人小汽车能给人很大的舒适。 This is private land; you can’t walk across it. 这是私人土地, 你不能通过。 5. And then make them read through the passage quickly to check whether their imagination agrees with the truth. Discussion Divide students into several groups and make them discuss the following questions: Does you hometown have a twin town Do you think it is a good idea Say why or why not. → Step 3 Task: Writing an advertisement for your hometown 1. You may first elicit some features and note them on the blackboard to help weaker students. 2. Pair students and have them discuss and make notes of the features of their hometown. 3. Ask them to choose the features that would be most interesting to visitors and try to decide what the central message of their advertisement is. 4. Provide each pair with a piece of either A3 or A4 paper on which to design their advertisement. You may ask them to decide what pictures they want to use and where they will put them in their advertisements. 5. Write the advertisement and put the pictures in it. 6. Have them display their advertisements. They should then circulate and read the others. 7. After that, they may discuss which ones are the best and why. → Step 4 Module section lists the main areas of language dealt with in this module. You may wish to use it formally for repetition, and pronunciation revision, or you may want to give students ten minutes to go through it, ticking the things they are confident they know, putting a question mark next to those things they are not sure of, and a cross next to those they don’t know. This should then be the basis of their own revision of the module. → Step 5 Summary and Homework In this period first we reviewed the grammar part through doing some multiple choices first, and then we read a passage about town twinning. After that, we learned to produce an advertisement.
